TWO MINUTE SPIRITUAL DEVOTION
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5, NASB)
REFLECTION:
Which of these - my way, my will, my idols - is most hindering me from being useful for God?
Which of these - God's calling, God’s promise, God's presence - will most help me in being useful for God?
What specific steps will I take to be useful for God in 2025 and thereafter?
ACTION POINT:
As I look to 2025, I ask myself: will my life honor God or drift into pride and self-reliance? Jeremiah’s story shows the difference between being useful to God by trusting His call (Jeremiah 1) and becoming useless by following our own way (Jeremiah 13). My prayer is to stay humble and obedient so that I can be useful for His purposes.
1. God’s Calling:
God has a purpose for my life. Just as He knew and set apart Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:5), He knew me before I was even born and chose me to reflect Christ (John 15:16). This 2025, I will seek God’s will daily, share His love and truth, and faithfully live as His ambassador.
2. God’s Promises:
When Jeremiah doubted, God assured him, “I am with you” (Jeremiah 1:8). His promises give me confidence to overcome fear and doubt. This 2025, I will meditate on His word daily so that I am constantly reminded of His promises, and can lean on His faithfulness, even in challenges.
3. God’s Presence:
God didn’t send Jeremiah alone; He promised, “I am with you to deliver you” (Jeremiah 1:8). God’s presence is my greatest assurance and confidence. This 2025, I will rely on God’s presence through prayer and worship, knowing He is always with me.
As I enter the new year, I know the choice is mine: Will I walk in pride, clinging to my own way, or humbly follow God’s call, promises, and presence? By staying available and obedient, I trust God will make my life useful—not useless—for His glory!
