Day 8 - January 10

Genesis 18:16-33
Genesis 19
Matthew 6:25-34
Matthew 7:1-14

Psalms 8:1-9
What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made - Psalm 8:4. Nacapture ako ng verse na'to kasi pinapakita sa other readings today like in Genesis and in Matthew na God cares and truly makes an effort to reach His people and rescue them and save them. Like in Genesis when Lot is presenting himself as helpless, God responded to his request na kung pwede dun na lang siya sa small town and inantay talaga siya makarating don bago idestroy ang Sodom and Gomorrah. Kaya totoo at tamang panghawakan ung promise na "don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything with thanksgiving".

Proverbs 2:6-15

Day 7 - January 9

Genesis 16
Genesis 17
Genesis 18:1-15
Matthew 6:1-24
Psalms 7:1-17
Proverbs 2:1-5

Day 6 - January 8

GENESIS 13:5-8
Separation does not always mean endings. Separation can be solutions to strife. Abraham was considerate for letting Lot choose first on where to go. But no matter where Abraham was settled, the Lord has ALL the land for him and his offspring which means to me that we have everything when we have the Lord.

GENESIS 14?

GENESIS 15?

MATTHEW 5:27-48
God is holy so we must be holy. God's standard is perfection and truly we all fall short. There is nothing we can do to meet His standard. But God is gracious enough to send Jesus who clothes us with righteousness. We'll only be made perfect through Jesus.

PSALM 6:1-10?
PROVERBS 1:29-33?

Day 5 - January 7

MATTHEW 5:1-26
The Beatitudes show the true meaning of blessing which is different than how the world sees it. That when we are in the presence of God no matter the circumstance, then we are truly blessed

PROVERBS 1:24-28
God wants what's best for us. I see in 24 and 25 that God is trying to reach out and we're encouraged to respond to His call and His rebuke. We must humble ourselves and listen para we don't get to experience the consequences for not listening in verses 26-28.

Day 2 - January 4

GENESIS CHAPTER 3

GENESIS 3:5-6 - God revealed how the enemy operates by attacking the weak spots of human even in the beginning (1) the lust of the flesh - when Eve saw the fruit is good for food (2) lust of the eyes - when Eve saw the fruit is pleasing to the eye (3) pride of life - when the serpent planted the idea that they will become like God knowing what is good and evil thus leading to Eve's desire to gain wisdom.

GENESIS 3:5-6 - At human point of view, it may seem harmless to desire the fruit of knowledge - it's good to eat and we will know what is right and wrong - who doesn't want to gain wisdom? This appears to me as good intentions or good works according to man's will. However this greatly emphasizes the very nature of sin which is rebellion against God - disobedience - when man's will rule over God's will. I'm reminded of Matthew 16:23 when Jesus rebuked Peter and called him Satan. Maganda naman intention ni Peter, ayaw niya masaktan si Jesus pero tinawag pa din ni Jesus si Peter na Satan dahil ang nasa isip ni Peter ay human concerns, not Godly concerns. It's a reminder that we are blessed when we prioritize God's will over human will no matter how good the human intentions are.

GENESIS CHAPTER 4

GENESIS 4:7 - It was impressed on my heart that though we may be giving offering to God, our offering may not be right just like Cain's offering. When we love and honor someone, we give our best and rightfully due to the person which is what Abel did. He gave the best - the firsts. And when we do not do what is right like Cain, we hurt ourselves by falling into the traps of sin like jealousy.

GENESIS 4:9 - Though God is all-knowing, He was gracious enough to give Cain the chance to come clean i.e. to confess and repent of what he did to Abel. But sin ruled over Cain thus giving birth to another sin which was lying.

MATTHEW 2:13-23
3 prophecies were fulfilled. Joseph remained obedient to God. Herod's encounter with Jesus is something we should not follow. Instead of drawing himself near to Jesus, he desires to kill Jesus. He didn't see the beauty of the coming of the Messiah instead he saw it as a threat to his reign.

MATTHEW 3:1-6
It shows also a fulfilment of the prophecy regarding John the Baptist who will prepare the way of the Lord. The message has always been to repent. Our hearts should be ready when we receive the Lord. It doesn't mean we should be sinless but we acknowledge our position before the Lord that we have sinned against the Lord. It should put us in a humble position otherwise we wouldn't recognize our need for Jesus. John was dressed and eating in a manner the shows also simplicity and humility. The baptism was said to be done in a public place. Since baptism is a public declaration of our faith, we do it in public, not to get attention, but rather to set an example and encourage others to follow Jesus. It's always to point everyone to Jesus because we need Him and that it is only through Him that our sins will be forgiven.

PROVERBS 1:7-9 - Jesus is the source of wisdom. It even makes us wiser if we listen to instructions, wise counsel who are rooted in God's Word, we have a teachable heart open to correction and rebuke. God's heart is to protect us. In verse 8, he desires us to honor our parents for our own good. That's additional protection God placed and designed for His children. In verse 9, if we follow, we reap the fruit of obeying God and our parents.
